''There seems to be some discrepancies about the actual power that the ZXR250 makes, though the factory Kawasaki catalog claims 45hp, in some restricted models around the world 39hp is correct. In this versions speedometer reads up to 180&nbsp;km/h only. The model produced/manufactured in Malaysia had a different stroke and top speed of 240 km/h as it wasn't built to the same specs as the previous models. ''

==Similar machines==
All four of the major Japanese motorcycle manufacturers produced a sporty, high-revving, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke 250cc motorcycle capable of producing up to 45 hp (34 kW). They are the Honda [[CBR250]], Kawasaki [[Kawasaki Ninja ZX-2R / ZXR250|ZXR250]], Suzuki [[Suzuki GSX-R250|GSX-R250]] and the [[Yamaha Motor Company Ltd.|Yamaha]] FZR250. With limited exceptions, these bikes were generally only officially available in Japan.
