The California 1100 EV is the latest interpretation of the long-running California series. Refined, with improved build quality and finish, it is essentially the same as the previous models. The air-cooled transverse V-twin engine has a torque power delivery, but is weak at the top-end. The design's longitudinal crank allows a simple path to the final shaft drive, reducing power losses.

2000 - 2003 Moto Guzzi California Special Sport[edit | edit source]

In 1981, after the first California, a new version was born, with an engine of 948cc borrowed from the Le Mans bike. For the machine was a success, in 1987 the III version with the same engine, replaced the bike. Since 1990, there were a standard version of the California, the Classic, without windshield and a FF model, with full fairing. In the '90's, the California's engine grew up from a 948cc displacement up to 1064cc and a lot of versions "enjoyed" its power. The company wanted to create a bike for long trips and on these conditions, California EV was born in 1997 with a lot of changes. Only two years later it was the base for the California Special and the California Special Sport which hit the roads.

It comes standard with a dual-shock rear suspension, and a single front disc brake, which don't scream out performance, but rather appeal to those riders who want a machine just for the riding pleasure.
