A muffler is a device for reducing the amount of noise emitted by the exhaust on most vehicles. On internal combustion engines, the engine exhaust blows out through the muffler. In addition to quieting the motorcycle mufflers also provide back pressure improving engine performance. The internal combustion engine muffler or silencer was originally invented by Milton O. Reeves .
