The Suzuki GS 1000E was based around the successful GS 750, which was the lightest of the 750's available at the time. What Suzuki wanted was a simple design, that benefited from solid engineering and light weight. And they succeeded. The GS 1000E was only slightly heavier than its smaller brother, which was quite an achievement. By lengthening the stroke of the (relatively short stroke) GS 750 engine from 56,4 to 70 mm the cylinder displacement was enlarged from 748 to 997 cc.

The '''Suzuki GS1000E''' is a [[motorcycle]] produced by [[Suzuki]] from 1978 to 1980.

The Suzuki GS 1000E was a Air Cooled, Four Stroke, Transverse Four Cylinder, DOHC Naked motorcycle produced by Suzuki in 1978. Max torque was 61.22 ft/lbs (83.0 Nm) @ 6500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 89.98 HP (67.1 KW) @ 8200 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

A 69.9mm bore x 69.9mm stroke result in a displacement of just 997.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 5-Speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-plate.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 3.50 V19 front tire and a 4.50 V17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double discs 295 mm in the front and a Single disc 295 mm in the rear. The front suspension was a Telehydraulic Foks while the rear was equipped with a Swinging Arm Forks With Adjustable Shock Absorbers. The wheelbase was 59.29 inches (1506 mm) long.

1978 - 1980 Suzuki GS 1000E[edit | edit source]

The Suzuki GS 1000E was based around the successful GS 750, which was the lightest of the 750's available at the time. What Suzuki wanted was a simple design, that benefited from solid engineering and light weight. And they succeeded. The GS 1000E was only slightly heavier than its smaller brother, which was quite an achievement. By lengthening the stroke of the (relatively short stroke) GS 750 engine from 56,4 to 70 mm the cylinder displacement was enlarged from 748 to 997 cc.
