Overview

The Yoshimura R 1000 GS in 1980 was led by the pair made up of riders Wes Cooley and Graeme Crosby, then respectively Suzuki riders in the AMA Superbike Championship American and World 500. The R 1000 GS prepared by Pop Yoshimura, took part in the Suzuka 8 Hours in 1980 and allowed the Japanese team their second success in this historic race from the Kawasaki team made up of pilots and Hansford Lawson. The number 12, which stands on this endurance-racer, after this major success came almost thirty years ago, was adopted as a mascot by the motion of the Yoshimura team that raced in this race in later years.
