The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 was a v2, four-stroke Sport touring motorcycle produced by Suzuki between 2004 and 2019. Max torque was 75.97 ft/lbs (103.0 Nm) @ 4000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 97.89 HP (73.0 KW) @ 8000 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a liquid cooled v2, four-stroke. A 100.0mm bore x 66.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1037.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet, multiplate.

Chassis

It came with a 110/80-r19 front tire and a 150/70-r17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. tokico 4-piston calipers in the front and a single disc. nissin, 2-piston in the rear. The front suspension was a inverted telescopic, coil spring, oil damped while the rear was equipped with a link type, single shock, coil spring, oil damped. The V-Strom 1000 was fitted with a 5.28 Gallon (20.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 458.56 pounds (208.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 61.22 inches (1555 mm) long.

The 2014 V-Strom 1000 ABS Adventure adds even more long-range worthiness to the all-new liter-class V-Strom. The model was redesigned completely and we are looking at a whole new machine, with a new engine, new chassis, new suspensions and bodywork, a revised riding position and all. The brakes now got radial calipers and ABS, the engine sports driving modes and traction control and this makes riding the V-Strom 1000 ABS Adventure much easier and rewarding even in adverse conditions.

The Adventure trim introduces a skid plate, hand guards, a touring windscreen, side cases and racks, accessories bars and engine guards.

The 2014 MY V-Strom 1000 is a completely new machine, redesigned and re-engineered from head to toes. The frame is all-new and rolls on new suspensions, while the entire bodywork is updated and re-worked. The iconic dual headlight design was replaced by a single unit with stacked reflectors and the front cowl also got a beak upon which the adjustable windshield towers elegantly.

The dashboard was also revised completely, and it now accommodates new instruments and traction control setup buttons. The seats and luggage system have also been redesigned and offer both functionality and long-range comfort. Obviously, the bike comes with a new v-twin engine which is more powerful and torquey, making life in the saddle much more pleasurable.

With all the neat features and technologies the big Strom arrived, a lot of riders have expected that at least the Adventure version of the bike be a real off-roader. Suzuki begged to differ, so the 2015 MY V-Strom 1000 ABS Adventure only showed add-ons to make it a better, more convenient travel bike.


It has not gotten wire-spoked wheels like many hoped it would, but received color-matching side cases, crashbars, hand guards, a bash plate and an adjustable windscreen. On the technical side, the Adventure version is identical to the rest of the V-Strom 1000 machines, only better-equipped with touring amenities.
