:It would be excellent if we could find documents like this for other manufacturers to see if Kawasaki is the exception or if this is standard. One thing I don't know anything about is oil for Harleys. I thought many of them use wet clutches. If this JASO standard is important for all Japanese bikes, then wouldn't it seem odd if Harley wanted their oil to meet a JASO (Japanese standard)? In the U.S., requiring the use of OEM motor oil in order to maintain a warranty is strictly prohibited under the [http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/warranty.htm#Magnuson-Moss Magnuson-Moss Act]. Quote: | |||

::Ok first, I think that does establish that they can't void the warranty in whole. Secondly, I think it might be good to actually analyze the terms of some warranties before we state that as a rule. That is an interesting law, and I can see the reason for it. It wouldn't hurt at all to do more research on this issue. One thing I would be interested in is if the law is ever applied.
