Honda CB77

Hey Ben-

Do you own, or know who owns, the red Honda CB77 that you have pictured? I have been looking for a project bike and that one looks perfect.

Sorry I don't know whose that is. :-(--Budlight 20:23, 24 October 2006 (PDT)

Does anybody know if I can put a 750ltd front end on a kz650h (650 csr)frame thanks akdhmh

Plugged CC on my Podcast

Hi Ben, I've included a little plug on my latest show #22 about this cool Wiki you've done up. You can DL and listen to the show here: http://www.thetwistedwrist.com or subscribe (for free) through iTunes. If you like what you hear, and would like to be interviewed for a future show, let me know through the email link on the website. TimothyPilgrim 12:11, 14 November 2006 (PST)

Hey I've been meaning to say thanks for the plug, I listened to your podcast a few days after you left this comment, and I was rather surprised at how much time you put into it. I definitely thought it was a good thing. I subscribed to it's feed on bloglines (not quite sure if I would ever use subscribing to it in itunes). And I saw you had a new update that I've been meaning to listen to, I'll probably do it today since I'm done with exams.--Budlight 14:44, 11 December 2006 (EST)

Honda 250 Scrambler

Hey Bud,

I came across your pictures of the above cycle. I had a red one in 1964, but I remember mine having a larger front tire than the rear tire. Do you have any info on that?

~Ron.

I looked for tire sizes on the Honda CL72, but haven't been able to find any information on the tire sizes just yet. I'm sure I'll find it eventually. Stuff like that can often be hard to find which is why I'm making this site. However, I still haven't decided what format to put specifications into, hence I haven't really focused on them with great intensity.--Budlight 14:41, 11 December 2006 (EST)

Edits and Subject matter Expertise.

Bud:

I saw that you stay pretty busy on here. I made some edits today by adding the XS850 Yamaha. I think you asked me "is this what you were trying to do?"

Not sure I understand.

Oh there I was just trying to clean it up some to make a list <ul><li></li></ul> if you look at the previous edit http://www.cyclechaos.com/wiki/index.php?title=Yamaha_XS_850&oldid=22473 the way the wiki software works is to turn all of that into one line unless it contains a single black line in between them, I'm not exactly sure what the justification for them using this format is, but once you get used to it it's not that bad.--User:Budlight 18:22, 21 December 2006 (EST)

I have a LOT to contribute to your efforts here as I am a Registered Honda Technician from 85-91 and own www.motorcyclecarbs.com and I end up having an intimate relationship with the carbs of ALL bikes. I am specifically a subject matter expert on all jap bikes from about 77-90. Especially inline 4's. And some dirt bikes.

I also talk to MANY international customers and gain insight on model trivia. You know. This was available from 80-82 in Germany but 80-81 in the US, etc. Also stuff like the TDM850 was also available as a TRX850 in a sport version in Europe. Lots of lil bits that could help out.

Yeah i've been aware of these type of issues especially with many Kawasaki bikes being ZZRs in Europe and Ninjas over here. And frankly I'm not sure how to conquer it any more than one bike at a time. What I currently do is some times I'll make a redirect page to whatever the U.S. Model is. Wiki's while not perfect seem to be one of the better models for this as it's hard to map out all the interrelationships between models with a normalized database.--User:Budlight 18:22, 21 December 2006 (EST)

I have to ask seeing that you are very web savy, what is your IT skill set?

well I originally started out with vb6 when i was quite young, however I'm functional with vb.net (i've written a few useful programs including ones to upload pictures to this site) and php (not a pro by any means but its such a simple language). I have a pretty decent knowledge of SQL including SQL injections (definitely the biggest application vulnerability on the web, and the fact is no one seems to care if they are vulnerable to sql injection). I can pretty much pick up whatever, I'm becoming more familiar with bash scripting(mainly to automate backups and other such tasks), and a perl or python script doesn't faze me. On the motorcycle side of things I guess I'm extremely intimately familiar with lightspeed NXT and with partsmart and frankly I wouldn't mind working with either one of them to get their products back in shape as their latest releases haven't really been up to par (Partsmart 8 is a joke)--User:Budlight 18:22, 21 December 2006 (EST)

I like what you are doing here and find it useful. What version of wiki are you using here?

I'm using Mediawiki 1.8.2 see Special:Version, however I have added a few of my own features to mediawiki and even wrote one extension (to disable exporting of articles).--User:Budlight 18:22, 21 December 2006 (EST)

Off-site Backups

This is 'ezrec'.

You have a lot of hard work in this site - do you have off-site backups?

I'd be willing to take data dumps (even encrypted versions) on a regular basis.

I currently back all of the site up using rsync, and keep archived copies of the Database as well. I also use Cpanel's remote backup feature to backup everything to a remote host. --Budlight 20:02, 8 February 2007 (EST)

KZ550 images

Hello, Bud.

If you are interested in using them to accompany your article, I shot a series of photos of my KZ550 to accompany the online auction (sold it two years ago.)

Photos at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Salvyhead/kz550/?action=view&current=clock.jpg

I no longer own the bike but the photos are mine.

Thanks I've uploaded them to the page here Kawasaki KZ550A. I hope it actually is a 1981 KZ550-A2, as I was led to believe by both the colors, and the registration document you had photographed. Thanks for letting me use those, as that bike was in excellent condition.--Budlight 08:30, 6 February 2007 (EST)

Pics of 1979 Honda CBX

Bud thanks for the pics. I have been comparing all the 79 pics in candy red. But there are a few pics that look more on the orange side, ex: the top of the 79 tank, the left side looks red the right side orange. I thought there were 3 stock colors, or is the candy just faded to orange metallic?

Thank you

Welcome, According to the Honda Model ID guide there were only two colors Perseur Silver and Candy Glory Red in 1979. Those pics that look orange should probably be removed. I think the ones on the upper right are originally from wikipedia, and they are the least accurate of the whole bunch. I wish I had a brochure of this bike to scan in.--Budlight 09:20, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Honda CB 100 1972

Hi there,

I stumbled across your page when searching for info about my Honda CB 100. I'm currently restoring a 1972 model but I can't find info anywhere that tells me how much oil it takes- you wouldn't have any idea would you?

Thanks. SS

No I don't really have access to that info. I really should get a Honda Quick Reference Guide to keep with me for questions like this. --Budlight 11:41, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Thanks anyway! SS

KZ650H Front End

Does anybody know if I can put a 750ltd front end on a kz650h (650 csr)frame thanks akdhmh.

I wouldn't know that right off hand, the best way I would say to find that out is to find out if either the forks or the steering stem are the same sizes. You could still have issues with the forks being too long. --Budlight 11:43, 24 February 2007 (CST)

1979 cbx

I was hoping there was only 2 colors. My 79 has faded to more of an orange color.I like the red, how can i be sure of the color code?

Thanks Dave

Probably the best way to get the color right is to go via colorite. Not sure how accurate they will be on a bike this old, they do newer stuff fairly well. --Budlight 19:36, 8 March 2007 (CST)

Kawasaki ZL900

I was wondering if you knew where i could pick up an eliminator for around 3000 or so I ve been looking for one but am having a hard time finding one. Please email at tslove02@yahoo.com if you can help

You'll have to keep looking. I've seen a few on [www.ebay.com, you might want to setup a watch or notice so that they email you when someone lists a ZL900. Another good site to check out is cycletrader--Budlight 19:38, 8 March 2007 (CST)
