The Velocette MT 500 was a Single, OHC, four-stroke, air-cooled Classic motorcycle produced by Velocette in 1938.

Engine
A 81.3mm bore x 81.3mm stroke result in a displacement of just 494.7 cubic centimeters.

Drive
The bike has a 4-Speed, foot operated transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet Multi-plate.

Chassis
Stopping was achieved via Drum in the front and a Drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Webb fork with two friction dampers while the rear was equipped with a Swingarm with 2 shock absorbers.

The MT 500 was never sold as a racer, but two machines were built for Stanley Woods and Ted Mellors. They were made late in 1938 and looked similar to the Mk VIII but had a swingarm rear suspension. The frame was modified slightly to the raise the engine. The bore and stroke of 81 mm and 96 corresponded to that of the 500 cc MSS.
