The Yamaha DT125 was a 125cc, 2-stroke, dual-purpose motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha from 1974 through 1988 in the US. Some derivatives are still sold in other markets to this day. The model designation DT indicates that it is a 2-stoke off-road styled motorcycle, it had a raised exhaust, handlebars with cross members, universal tires, and adequate ground clearance for an off-road enduro motorcycle or trail motorcycle. The USA received the last DT125H in 1981.

The DT125 had a raised rear and front fender, raised exhaust, handlebars with cross members, universal tires, and adequate ground clearance for an off-road-enduro motorcycle or trail motorcycle.

When first launched the DT125 had a single cylinder, air-cooled, 2-stroke engine, a cradle style tubular steel frame, conventional telescopic front forks and dual shock swingarm rear suspension, and drum brakes front and rear. Over the years the model received numerous updates and restyles, the dates and specifications of which vary between different markets. Notable changes include the appearance of a single shock absorber rear swingarm in 1977, which Yamaha referred to as Mono-cross, or MX for short, a feature that appeared on many of Yamaha's other small and medium sized motorcycles at a similar time. In 1983 the DT125 received a major restyle and gained a liquid cooled engine to become the DT125LC. In 1985 the electrics were upgraded to 12v, the front brake drum was changed to a disc, and rising rate rear suspension was fitted with the introduction of the DT125LC mk3. Another restyle for 1987 gave us the DT125R, the most noticeable specification change from it's predecessor being the swap to a rear disc brake.

The Yamaha DT125RE was a single cylinder, two-stroke Enduro motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 1973 and 2007. It could reach a top speed of 64 mph (103 km/h). Max torque was 9.59 ft/lbs (13.0 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 14.48 HP (10.8 KW) @ 8000 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a liquid cooled single cylinder, two-stroke. A 56.0mm bore x 50.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 124.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a membrane & power valve.

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-plate.

Chassis

It came with a 80/90-21 front tire and a 110/80-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a monocross. The DT125RE was fitted with a 2.83 Gallon (10.70 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 255.74 pounds (116.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.71 inches (1415 mm) long.

1975 Yamaha DT 125

The 1974 Yamaha DT 125 has, at its heart, an air-cooled, two-stroke, 123cc, single cylinder powerplant mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 14 horsepower and 14 Nm of torque. It also comes standard with laced-wheels, off-road tires, a high-end suspension package composed of a telescopic fork in the front and dual shocks in the rear, a dual seat, an analogue instrument cluster, a blacked-out frame, and passenger grab rails.

1978 Yamaha DT 125

The 1977 Yamaha DT 125 is an entry-level, road-legal, off-road machine that can just as well be used for a daily commute to and from work. It comes standard with features such as laced wheels, a dual seat, a telescopic front fork, dual shocks as a rear suspension, a high-mounted exhaust, knobby tires mounted on them, a blacked-out frame, and a round headlamp.

In the tech/engine department it sports an air-cooled, two-stroke, 123cc, single cylinder powerhouse mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and can produce 14 horsepower and 14 Nm of torque.

1992 Yamaha DT 125 R

The 1992 MY Yamaha DT 125 R has, at its heart, an air-cooled, two-stroke, 124cc, single cylinder powerplant paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 16 horsepower and 16 Nm of torque. This entry-level off-road machine comes standard with features such as a telescopic front fork, an adjustable monoshock as a rear suspension, front and rear disc brakes, a 10-liter (2.2-gallons) under-seat fuel tank, plus laced wheels with knobby tires mounted on them.

1994 Yamaha DT 125 R

The 1993 Yamaha DT 125 R has, at its heart, an air-cooled, two-stroke, 124cc, single cylinder powerhouse paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can reach a maximum power output of 16 horsepower and 16 Nm of torque.

It also comes standard with features such as laced wheels, off-road tires, a race-inspired livery, a square headlight, a telescopic front fork, a Monocross rear suspension, a rear luggage rack, front and rear disc brakes, and a high-mounted exhaust.

2001 Yamaha DT 125 R

The Yamaha DT 125 R model is a Enduro / offroad bike manufactured by Yamaha. In this version sold from year 2000, the dry weight is 116 kg (255.11 pounds) and it is equiped with a Single cylinder, two-stroke motor. The engine produces a maximum peak output power of 19.00 HP (14.00 kW) @ 7500 RPM and a maximum torque of 19.00 Nm (14.00 ft.lbs) @ 8000 RPM
