A 78.7mm bore x 78.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1298.0 cubic centimeters.

DriveEdit

The bike has a 5-Speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-discs.

ChassisEdit

It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 180/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Double discs 320 mm in the front and a Single disc 283 mm in the rear. The front suspension was a 48mm upside-down telescopic fork w/adjustable preload, compression and rebound damping while the rear was equipped with a Single shock, link-type, w/adjustable preload and rebound damping. The wheelbase was 60.79 inches (1544 mm) long.

2003 - 2007 Yamaha FJ 1300AEdit

         

The new FJ 1300A feature an adjustable seat (up or down by nearly an inch) and adjustable handlebar pull back angle (a 1/2 inch range with 3 possible positions). Both versions of the new FJ receive a larger windscreen with a wider range of adjust-ability (still electrically adjustable via handlebar thumb control).
