The Yamaha RD400 was a twin, two-stroke Classic motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 1976 and 1979. It could reach a top speed of 109 mph (175 km/h). Claimed horsepower was 42.11 HP (31.4 KW) @ 7500 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a air cooled twin, two-stroke. A 64.0mm bore x 62.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 399.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a membrane.

Drive

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-plate.

Chassis

It came with a 3.00-18 front tire and a 3.50-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic Forks while the rear was equipped with a Swingarm. The RD400 was fitted with a 4.36 Gallon (16.50 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 52.01 inches (1321 mm) long.
