Overview[edit | edit source]

Yamaha SR 250 Classic

The Yamaha SR250 is a single cylinder motorcycle made by Yamaha Motor Company from 1980 to 1982 for the first generation, and since 2001 for the second generation. It shares styling with the larger Yamaha SR500. The first generation had a 249 cc (15.2 cu in) displacement and the second generation was 239 cc (14.6 cu in). In 2001, Yamaha released their most recent SR250 due to popular demand for reliable commuters. This model is modeled after the SR500. Despite engine capacity, the two bikes are essentially of the same overall design.{| class="wikitable" |- !Make Model |Yamaha SR 250 Classic |- !Year |1997 - |- !Engine Type |Four stroke, single cylinder, SOHC, 2 valve |- !Displacement |239 cc / 15.2 cu-in |- !Bore X Stroke |73.5 x 56.5 mm |- !Cooling System |Air cooled |- !Compression |8.9:1 |- !Induction |34mm Mikuni carburetor |- !Ignition |Electronically |- !Starting |Electric |- !Max Power |14.7 kW / 19.72 hp @ 7700 rpm |- !Max Torque |18.7 ft-lb / 25.5 Nm @ 7000 rpm |- !Transmission |5 Speed |- !Final Drive |Chain |- !Front Suspension |32mm Telescopic forks |- !Rear Suspension |Dual shock 5-way preload adjustment. |- !Front Brakes |Single 200mm disc |- !Rear Brakes |150mm drum |- !Front Tire |90/90 R19 |- !Rear Tire |120/80 R18 |- !Wheelbase |1340 mm / 52.75 in |- !Seat Height |740 mm / 29.0 in |- !Wet Weight |130 kg 287 lbs |- !Fuel Capacity |10.8 Liters / 2.7 US gal |- !Consumption Average |70 mpg |- !Standing ¼ Mile |16.3 sec |- !Top Speed |89 mph / 143.2 km/h
