The Yamaha XJR1200SP was a in-line four, four-stroke Touring motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 1995 and 1998. It could reach a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h). Max torque was 67.86 ft/lbs (92.0 Nm) @ 6250 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 95.88 HP (71.5 KW) @ 8000 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a air cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 78.7mm bore x 78.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1188.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-plate.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 130/70-17 front tire and a 170/60-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic Fork while the rear was equipped with a Swingarm, Öhlins Coil Spring. The bike weighed just 511.47 pounds (232.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 59.09 inches (1501 mm) long.

The Yamaha XJR even the lowly 1200 which the glad rags tend to scoff at these days-has masses of acceleration. Crack open the throttle at 30mph and you’ll need crampons and a safety harness to stay on board at full bore through the gears.
