The Yamaha XJR1200SP was a in-line four, four-stroke Touring motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 1995 and 1998. It could reach a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h). Max torque was 67.86 ft/lbs (92.0 Nm) @ 6250 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 95.88 HP (71.5 KW) @ 8000 RPM.

Engine

The engine was a air cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 78.7mm bore x 78.7mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1188.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive

The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-plate.

Chassis

It came with a 130/70-17 front tire and a 170/60-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The Yamaha XJR even the lowly 1200 which the glad rags tend to scoff at these days-has masses of acceleration. Crack open the throttle at 30mph and you’ll need crampons and a safety harness to stay on board at full bore through the gears.
