The Yamaha XS850 was a in-line three, four-stroke Naked motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 1976 and 1982. It could reach a top speed of 122 mph (196 km/h). Claimed horsepower was 77.38 HP (57.7 KW) @ 8500 RPM.

Made in the US from 80-81 Also offered in Europe in 80-82 This is an evolved version of the XS750 (a shaft drive, 2 valve per cylinder, 3 cylinder, 4 stroke) which was basically bored out in 1980 to become the 850.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a air cooled in-line three, four-stroke. A 71.5mm bore x 68.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 826.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 5-speed transmission.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 3.25-19 front tire and a 4.00-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic Forks while the rear was equipped with a Swing Arm. The XS850 was fitted with a 6.34 Gallon (24.00 Liters) fuel tank.
