Overview
The 920 Virago was first introduced in 1982 as a bigger version of the XV750 Virago. It really had no competition in the US that wasn't significantly larger or smaller.  It could be had with an electronic dash that showed speed and R.P.M.'s digitally. A well known problem was the starter, which due to poor design often started slipping at low mileage. When tuned well they were very quick off the line and capable of being ridden long distances, the only real limitation being the small fuel capacity.

Engine
The engine was a air cooled v2, four-stroke. A 92.0mm bore x 69.2mm stroke result in a displacement of just 920.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv).

Drive
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-plate.

Chassis
It came with a 100/90-19 front tire and a 130/90-16 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The front suspension was a  37mm Showa Leading Axle while the rear was equipped with a monoshock. The XV920MK was fitted with a 3.8 Gallon (14.38 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 496.04 pounds (225.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 59.84 inches (1520 mm) long.
