The '''[[Yamaha]] YZ450FX''' was a single cylinder, [[four-stroke]] Trial [[motorcycle]] produced by [[Yamaha]] between 2003 and 2019. Max [[torque]] was 39.09 ft/lbs (53.0 Nm) @ 7500 RPM. Claimed [[horsepower]] was 59.94 HP (44.7 KW) @ 9000 RPM.  

==Engine==
The engine was a [[liquid cooled]] single cylinder, four-stroke. A 97.0mm [[bore]] x 60.9mm [[stroke]] result in a [[displacement]] of just 449.7 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin [[cam]] (dohc).  

==Drive==
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet multi-disc.  

==Chassis==
It came with a 80/100-21 front [[tire]] and a 120/80-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc. hydraulic in the front and a single disc. hydraulic in the rear. The front suspension was a  kyb® spring-type fork with speed sensitive damping; fully adjustable while the rear was equipped with a kyb® single shock; full adjustable. The YZ450FX was fitted with a 2.2 Gallon (8.33 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 218.92 pounds (99.3 Kg). The wheelbase was 58.31 inches (1481 mm) long.

The 2002 YZ450F is the top-drawer dirt bike in Yamaha's line-up , and it comes with a new 449cc engine, with liquid cooling and a 5-titanium-valve architecture, and redesigned automatic decompression for easier starts. The clutch is also new, and sports bigger plates for a more resilient performance under stress, while the all-new 4-speed transmission was revised for more explosive power deployment, one thing skilled riders really appreciate.

The 2007 MY of the YZ450F carries on the new performance standards introduced by the previous year model. What started out as a new engine in a new chassis has been revised and tweaked for even better grunt and more precise power management. The 2007 MY got a new exhaust cam, revised fuel delivery and a new exhaust system.

Several brake and suspension elements have been redesigned for weight loss, while the rear monoshock was optimized for better response to demanding situations. The clutch now has a stronger pressure plate, while fewer steel plates reduce heat build-up and provide a lighter lever pull.

A lot of structural upgrades have been implemented in the 2008 MY YZ450F, starting from the steering head and extending to minute details, such as the wider foot pegs, fork protectors, upper and lower triple clamps. The width of the rear tire was also changed for improved traction.

The 2016 YZ450FX shares the YZ450F’s revolutionary rearward-slanted-cylinder design, with a reversed cylinder head and forward-positioned straight intake. The YZ450FX delivers a controllable, torquey power character with strong top-end power tuned specifically for cross-country racing. The obvious changes to an off-road bike are the 18” rear wheel, a skid plate (which was oddly missing from the YZ250FX), an O&#8208;Ring Chain, an aluminum Side stand and suspension tuned for the job. A big difference from YZ motocross bike is the return of the 22mm off-set triple clamp and the use of a slightly longer shock length to raise up the rear of the bike.
