The bike has a Clutchless direct drive transmission.
Chassis
It came with a MJ90-19 front tire and a 110/90-16 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Nissin 2 piston hydraulic, 221 x 4.5 mm disc in the front and a Nissin 1 piston hydraulic, 221 x 4.5 mm disc in the rear. The front suspension was a 38mm inverted, aluminum slider forks with adjustable compression and rebound damping while the rear was equipped with a Piggy-back reservoir shock with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping. The wheelbase was 55.12 inches (1400 mm) long.

The Zero XU leverages the same advanced Z-Force technology as the fastest motorcycles in the 2013 lineup. Compact, efficient and powerful the motor provides exhilarating acceleration and is remarkably efficient. Completely air cooled, the motor is designed to provide a fantastic riding experience minus the need for any regular maintenance. When slowing down, the motor generates electricity that is channeled back into the power pack to help extend ride times.
