The engine featured a 11.0:1 compression ratio.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 180/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Die-cast aluminum single-sided swinging arm with BMW Motorrad EVO-Paralever, spring preload hydraulically adjustable to continuously variable levels by means of electronically adjustable ESA, rebound damping with standard ESA in the front and a Single 265mm disc 2 piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Three-section frame consisting of front and rear section, load bearing engine-gearbox unit while the rear was equipped with a BMW Motorrad Telelever, stanchion diameter 35mm, central spring strut, rebound damping electronically adjustable with standard ESA. The R1200ST was fitted with a 21 Liters fuel tank.
