Overview[edit | edit source]
AJS Model 14 250 / 250CSR / Scrambler
Associated Motor Cycles returned to the 250cc class in
1958 with a brace of all-new models.
Shared by the AJS Model 14 and Matchless G2, the
overhead-valve power unit incorporated its oil tank within the crankcase and
appeared to be of unitary construction, although a separate gearbox was
retained. The conventional cycle parts comprised an open, tubular steel frame,
closed at the bottom by a pressed-steel channel, complemented by a telescopic
front fork and swinging-arm rear suspension.
AMC had ended production of standard, sports and scrambles
versions by July 1963, while the CSR super-sports models lasted until 1966.
