The first organization for US motorcycle makers, founded in 1914, with Arthur Davidson on the board of directors. It was instrumental in the setting up of the AMA when, at the 1919 annual meeting, it was moved that the manufacturers take over the responsibilities of FAM, which they did. This formed the nucleus of the AMA. It was later renamed the American Motorcycle and Allied Trades Association.
