The bike has a 1 speed automatic transmission. Power was moderated via the Automatic CVT.

It came with a 25x8-12 front tire and a 25x10-12 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Hydraulic Disc in the front and a Hydraulic disc in the rear. The front suspension was a Double A-Arm while the rear was equipped with a ACT. The wheelbase was 50.0 inches (1270 mm) long.

The 2005 Arctic Cat 400 4x4 Automatic VP is the easier-to-drive version of the base VP model: it sports the automatic CVT transmission for simple operation, even with less experienced riders. Permanent 4x4 transmission ensures a firm grip on whatever terrain, while engine braking and hydraulic disc brakes add to the safety and confidence when it comes to descending steep gradients.
The generous ground clearance and double A-arm independent suspension of the 2005 Arctic Cat 400 4x4 Automatic VP are a good match for the ACT rear suspension: tackling the big obstacles and getting out of tight situations is now easier. And with up to 135 kg of combined luggage capacity, the 2005 Arctic Cat 400 4x4 Automatic VP is also great for longer trips as one can carry some extra fuel, too.
