Overview[edit | edit source]
BMW R 1200GS LC TE Exclusive
R 1200 GS. Icon meets progress, perfection meets passion. The R 1200 GS is THE GS. It founded the dual-sport motorcycle segment and is still leading it confidently today. The diversity roads, cross-country, urban, countryside, comfort, performance combined with the legendary robustness and the expertise from over 36 years of GS development result in a motorcycle which shies away from no competitors. A great many test triumphs and awards in technical magazines provide impressive proof for this. And it's not by accident that "the GS" is the top-selling motorcycle above 600 ccm. The new model goes one better: both in terms of its touring suitability and off-road performance. More comfort, more dynamics and more fun. The engine indescribable. Tried, tested and proven under the highest strain again and again: the twin-cylinder boxer engine with 125 HP (92 kW). It is efficient and has very high torque for noticeable riding enjoyment in any situation. And yet the boxer is not only legendary for its reliability. It is also extremely good-natured. The wet clutch with anti-hopping function and the electric throttle facilitate a fine dosage of power. Why not try it out on a test ride? The handling unmatched. The firm main frame with the engine as a supporting element ensures a low centre of gravity and in turn alleviates handling while at the same time retaining enormous lane stability. The paralever and telelever suspension elements enable a perfectly tuned damping performance on any terrain. And with the new electronic riding assistances like the reworked ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), the R 1200 GS once again sets benchmarks for riding enjoyment at the touch of a button. The riding modes Rain and Road as well as the automatic stability control (ASC) are fitted as standard, to adapt the motorcycle to optimally suit the circumstances. The optional accessory riding mode Pro provides even more scope for adjusting the handling to your personal riding style (e.g. Enduro and Dynamic). Hill Start Control makes it easier to start on a slope and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), which also sensitively intervenes when in a lean, ensures safety and riding dynamics. ABS Pro also helps when leaning to apply the brakes in doses and in so doing, diffusing hazardous situations. The dynamic brake light warns traffic behind in case of reflex braking.
Personalisation irreplaceable.
One thing always remains the same: robust, dynamic and full of
character. New paint finishes and high-quality surfaces also highlight the
striking GS design. And this is a good thing.
But whether it's elegant tank trims, front wheel
spray protection, GS mouldings or new frame and body colors the R 1200 GS
has never been as diverse as this. And the styles are new as well. The
Exclusive style adds visual highlights and places the focus on a confident
appearance with high-quality materials and details. The Rallye style does
exactly what it says on the tin, and ambitioned off-road riders certainly
get their money's worth.
In addition, there is an extensive range of optional
accessories, including Keyless Ride, useful off-road accessories, and even
luggage systems to better adjust the GS to your own desires.
Exclusive.
The style for GS enthusiasts who like to be out and about with their GS and who want to have a confident appearance when doing so. Combined with the dynamic package, this GS becomes a true alpine racer and street sprinter. And in conjunction with touring extras, the R 1200 GS becomes the ideal all-round tourer, for which no tour is too long.
The Iced chocolate metallic paintwork of the front wheel spray guard and the tank cover are among the visual highlights of the Exclusive style. In addition, the GS lettering is proudly displayed on the tank and the radiator cowling is made of stainless steel. Gold brake callipers are in perfect harmony with the main frame in Achat grey and the drivetrain in black. The consistent overall appearance is rounded off with character by the optional comfort rider's seat.
The new R 1200 GS goes one better: both in terms of its touring
suitability and off-road performance. More comfort, more
dynamics and more fun were the maxim when designing the new GS.
IRRESISTIBLE.
It captivates people worldwide with its good looks. The new body elements of
the R 1200 GS highlight the never-ending urge for adventure. The new trim
panel components with the galvanised radiator cowling demonstrate the
increased visual robustness. The styles are even made out of out of
stainless steel. The main frame color can be selected in three different
finishes. High-quality design elements and attractive colors make the new
GS unique. Character-defining right from the first screw. But whether it's
elegant tank trims, front wheel spray protection, GS logos or new frame and
body colors the R 1200 GS has never been as diverse as this.
RALLYE OR TOUR?
Long stretches or ambitioned off-road adventure? The new styles of the R
1200 GS make both possible.
With high-quality materials and details the Exclusive style adds visual highlights and places the focus on touring. A comfortable seat bench and touring extras ensure the required level of comfort. Stainless steel and visual highlights ensure an elegant appearance at every look-out point.
Those who opt for the Rallye style choose the adventure off the beaten track. An optionally heightened chassis, many functional off-road parts and black spoke rims with optional lugged tires tempt you onto the dirt track. And the paintwork is a homage to the rally legend. The Rallye style is made for the off-road adventure.
Regardless of which adventure you prefer, the genes of the R 1200 GS are behind both styles a guarantor for the spirit of GS. DURABLE. The appearance of the R 1200 GS is not only a visual highlight but a functional one too. The optical robustness of the GS has been increased once again thanks to innovations like a spray guard and wind guiding wing elements. Numerous extras such as roll bars make it even more robust for practically any adventure. Thanks to the latest technology, the sensors react even more accurately to the various conditions and in so doing, make the GS less susceptible to undesired situations.
ADAPTABLE. With the latest Dynamic ESA generation, the first class riding comfort has been increased once again. Optimal traction and the highest level of comfort on all terrain is ensured. Even with different loads, the optimal initial preload and damping force at the spring elements are provided. The sensor signals ensure that the suspension and damping also adapt to different loads. This makes it possible to achieve a level of damping comfort which was previously unfeasible and to keep the riding position optimal and sensitive at all times, which guarantees a noticeable plus when it comes to precision and stability in handling.
UPHILL. Hill Start Control prevents uncontrolled rolling back on inclines by means of a targeted intervention in the partially integrated ABS brake system, without the brake lever having to be permanently depressed. When Hill Start Control is activated, the pressure in the rear brake system is built up so that the motorcycle remains stationary on an incline and the rider can touch the ground with both feet. Perfect for adventures in the mountains. OUTGOING. The riding modes of the next generation ensure you always have the right grip at the right time. Alongside the two standard riding modes "Rain" and "Road", the new optional riding modes Pro (Dynamic and Enduro) take you over any bumpy terrain without a hitch. Here, the Dynamic Pro setting ensures a generally firmer damping and sporty riding is supported. Switching on Enduro Pro ensures the perfect drive for ambitioned Enduro riders. A soft throttle response and restrained control intervention of the Enduro ASC make riding on loose terrain easy. Simply by switching between the riding modes you can react in a matter of seconds to different terrain; for brake intervention, the suspension element and also the electronic control systems of the throttle response and the engine characteristics. With just one button, the right mode is selected or when using the riding mode Pro adapted to the drivers needs because adventure doesn't need a break. UNORTHODOX. Remaining seated is not a problem with the countless possibilities. Even when the experienced GS rider would rather ride around in the terrain standing up, it is worth sitting down. Because the seat heights and various comfort or rally seat benches leave nothing to be desired. From tall and sporty to comfortable and ideal for touring. You will always embark on an adventure in comfort, even as a pair. UNBELIEVABLE. Even more protection. Even more safety. Even more reliability. An even better appearance. The new accessories for the R 1200 GS optimise the machine on a completely personalised level. Reworked cylinder protectors, topcase for two helmets, even off-road protective parts like cooler grills and frame guards or luggage systems. Making the GS your own.
