The BMW R69US was a two cylinder boxer, four-stroke Classic motorcycle produced by BMW between 1955 and 1969. It could reach a top speed of 109 mph (175 km/h). Claimed horsepower was 41.17 HP (30.7 KW) @ 7000 RPM.

600 cc boxer twin, 42 DIN bhp, 220 kg (445 #) 4 speed aircooled shaft-drive 4.00x18 tires Earles fork leading link front suspension sidecar and road ratios available. Most expensive bike available at the time. This bike uses one of the following plugs, but they are not interchangeable:

  • Spark Plug: NGK B8HS 1/2" Reach
  • Spark Plug: NGK B8ES 3/4" Reach

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a air cooled two cylinder boxer, four-stroke. A 72.0mm bore x 73.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 594.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 4-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the dry-single plate-cable operated.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 3.50 - S18 front tire and a 3.5-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via expanding brake (drum brake). single in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake). simplex full hub in the rear. The front suspension was a cartridge while the rear was equipped with a twin shock-swingarm. The R69US was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 56.18 inches (1427 mm) long.

The 1955 BMW R 69 boasts standard fittings such as laced wheels, a dual exhaust with pea-shooter mufflers, a dual seat, a small tail-light, a large, round headlight, a center stand, plunger rear shocks, a telescopic front fork, a blacked-out, steel frame, a drum braking system in the front and in the rear and full fenders.

In the engine department, it boasts a maximum power output of 35 horsepower at 6800 rpm from its air-cooled, four-stroke, 594cc, boxer twin cylinder powerhouse paired to a four-speed manual transmission.
