The BMW R 80 RT Mono was a air-cooled, four-stroke, boxer twin cylinder, 2 valves per cylinder Touring motorcycle produced by BMW between 1984 and 1985. Max torque was 44.26 ft/lbs (60.0 Nm) @ 3500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 50.02 HP (37.3 KW) @ 6500 RPM.

A 83.8mm bore x 83.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 797.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 5-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate, diaphragm spring.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 3.25 - H19 front tire and a 4.00 - H18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 260mm discs, 1-piston caliper in the front and a 200mm drum in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic hydraulic fork while the rear was equipped with a BMW Motorrad Monolever. The wheelbase was 57.72 inches (1466 mm) long.

The 1984 MY BMW R 80 RT Mono has been created to succeed the successful middle-weight tourer R 80 RT and has been fitted with BMW's acclaimed Monolever rear suspension unit, which increases comfort, reliability and agility, all the while reducing overall weight. It also comes with a dual seat, passenger grab rails, a large windscreen, a half-fairing, for increased protection against the elements, laced wheels, dual front disc brakes coupled to a rear drum, an analogue instrument panel and a telescopic front fork.

In the engine department it sports an air-cooled, four-stroke, 797cc, boxer twin cylinder powerhouse paired to a five-speed manual transmission, that produces a claimed 50 horsepower and 59 Nm of torque.

The 1985 MY BMW R 80 RT Mono has, at its heart, a four-stroke, air-cooled, 797cc, boxer twin cylinder powerplant paired to a five-speed manual transmission that can reach a maximum power output of 50 horsepower and 59 Nm of torque.
