The engine was a Air cooled cooled 45° V-Twin, four stroke, pushrod actuated overhead valve. hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, 2 valve per cylinder.. The engine featured a 9.0:1 compression ratio.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/60 VB17 front tire and a 170/70 VB17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2 x Discs, 4 piston calipers in the front and a Single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a Marzocchi telescopic forks, anti-dive system while the rear was equipped with a Single shock, horizontally below engine. The RS 1200/5 Westwind was fitted with a 13.5 L / 3.6 US gal fuel tank. The bike weighed just 215 kg / 474 lbs.
