The bike has a 2w/4w shaft driven with Visco-Lok front differential transmission. Power was moderated via the Automatic CVT.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 27 x 11 x 12 front tire and a 27 x 11 x 12 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual 214 mm ventilated disc brakes with hydraulic twin-piston calipers in the front and a Single 214 mm ventilated disc brake with hydraulic twin-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Double A-arm with dive-control geometry / Motion Control shocks while the rear was equipped with a Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI) with external sway bar/ Motion Control shocks. The Commander XT 800R was fitted with a 2.64 Gallon (10.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 75.79 inches (1925 mm) long.

The 2012 Can-Am Commander XT 800R is an all -terrain vehicle built for either hard work or for playing hard, equipped with premium features and aimed for top performance without sacrificing rider comfort. The power steering system has three levels of assistance for enhanced control on any surface, while the auto-locking front differential helps getting past obstacles with ease.
