Dresser

Dressers are Harley-Davidsons which have been literally 'dressed' for touring with screen, panniers, spotlamps, large comfortable seat and maybe a fairing. The origins lie in 1920s and '30s America, when riders began to add practical touring accessories to cope with the long distances in that big country. It developed a look all its own, the antithesis of the stripped-down bobbers and choppers after the Second World War. But the dresser survived to become an integral part of the world of Harley-Davidson: the Electra Glide, Road Glide and Road King all draw on this tradition, being ready-made dressers (in various states of undress) available direct from the factory.
