The bike has a straight cut gears transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, multiplate, hydraulic.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 330mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 245mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Ohlins fully-adjustable upside-down fork, TiN-coated while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins fully-adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage. The wheelbase was 56.3 inches (1430 mm) long.

The "R" version of the Corse Special Edition boasts a power boost, leading to 180 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque from its Tetastretta L-Twin desmodromic engine, and makes this machine one of the most powerful twin cylinder machines available on the market, up to date. In addition, as its S-suffixed sibling, it has carbon-fiber body parts and a race-inspired livery, that make this one of the most sought after machines from the House of Bologna.

The 2011 MY Ducati 1198R Corse Special Edition boasts a maximum power output of 180 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque from its liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 1198cc, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic engine that was paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive and a dry clutch.
Also, it has standard technologies such as ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), and Ducati Data Analysis (DDA).
