It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/50 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Showa fully-adjustable upside-down fork, TiN-coated while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage.

The SP version of the Ducati 916 is mainly addressed to those riders who make zero compromises when it comes to performance, this machine feeling at home both on the race track and on public roads. It comes with a race-grade suspension package, composed of a 43mm Showa fully-adjustable upside-down fork with TiN-coating and an Ohlins adjustable monoshock with a progressive linkage in the rear, which make it one of the most maneuverable machines available for purchase up to date.
In the engine department it is powered by a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, fuel-injected, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic powerhouse, paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, that reaches a maximum power output of 131 horsepower at 10500 rpm.
