The Ducati 996R was a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valves per cylinder Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Ducati in 2002. Max torque was 76.71 ft/lbs (104.0 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 135.04 HP (100.7 KW) @ 10200 RPM.

A 99.1mm bore x 99.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 996.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, hydraulic.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/50 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Showa fully-adjustable upside-down fork, TiN-coated while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins adjustable monoshock with progressive cantilever linkage. The wheelbase was 55.51 inches (1410 mm) long.

The R suffixed-version of the 996 is, arguably, one of the most powerful machines in its class, boasting a maximum power output of 135 horsepower and 105 Nm of torque from its liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 996cc, 90-degree desmodromic V-Twin, that was paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive.

Also, it comes with features such as Marchessini light-alloy wheels, dual headlights, a full-fairing with a small windscreen, a two-piece, dual seat, an under-seat dual exhaust system, a digital instrumentation display, Brembo brakes with dual front discs and a single disc in the rear, a Showa fully-adjustable upside down front fork with TiN-coating, and an Ohlins adjustable monoshock with progressive cantilever linkage as a rear suspension.

This machine has also been limited to 500 units, but is available for purchase all across the globe.
