The Ducati Monster 821 was a v2, four-stroke naked bike motorcycle produced between 2015 and 2019. Max torque was 63.43 ft/lbs (86.0 Nm) @ 7750 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 106.75 HP (79.6 KW) @ 9250 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a air cooled v2, four-stroke. A 88.0mm bore x 67.5mm stroke result in a displacement of just 821.0 cubic centimeters. The engine featured a 12.8:1 compression ratio. Fuel was supplied via a desmodromic valve control.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain. Power was moderated via the aptc slipper and self-servo wet multiplate clutch with control cable.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70-zr17 front tire and a 180/55-zr17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. semi-floating discs, radially mounted monobloc brembo m4-32 callipers, 4-pistons, axiial pump with abs as standard in the front and a single disc. 2-piston floating caliper with abs as standard equipment in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm upside-down forks while the rear was equiped with a progressive linkage with adjustable monoshock. aluminum double-sided swingarm. The Monster 821 was fitted with a 4.36 Gallon (16.50 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 396.83 pounds (180.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 58.27 inches (1480 mm) long.

The 2015 MY Ducati 821 Stripe differentiates itself from the base version, with a race-inspired livery, featuring a white stripe and with the addition of a fully adjustable front USD fork. At its heart lies the same, unmistakable, liquid-cooled, 821cc Testastretta 11° L-Twin with 4 Desmodromically actuated valves per cylinder that boasts power and torque levels comparable with four-cylinder engines. It comes with the latest technologies developed by the House of Borgo Panigale, such as the Ducate Safety Pack (DSP), which includes a 9 MP ABS as standard and Ducati Traction Control (DTC), the ride-by-wire and a slipper clutcs. Three different riding modes, URBAN, TOURING or SPORT, ensure optimum power delivery no matter the road conditions, as well as increased rider safety.


2015 Ducati Monster 821 Dark[edit | edit source]

The 2015 MY Ducati 821 Dark sports the unmistakable liquid-cooled, 821cc, Testastretta 11° L-Twin with 4 Desmodromically actuated valves per cylinder which delivers power comparable to a 3/4 cylinder engine. Boasting 112 horsepower and 90 Nm of torque, it gives unprecedented grunt for one of the most lightweight machines in its class, tipping the scale at just over 179 kg. The standard Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) combined with the engine mappings insure the optimum power delivery in a wide range of scenarios, as well as increased rider safety. The 821 Dark also comes with an adjustable two-up seat and pillion grab rails.

Unlike the base 821, the Dark edition has a more sober, aggressive appearance with all of its bodywork in dark, blacked-out visuals, and is suited for riders who want a machine that will cause its competition to tremble in fear.

The 2015 MY Ducati 821 has the unmistakable Italian thoroughbred, thanks to its liquid-cooled, 821cc, Testastretta 11° L-Twin with 4 Desmodromically actuated valves per cylinder, which can produce 112 horsepower and 90 Nm of torque. Technology-wise, it has the proven Ducati Safeti Pack (DSP) that includes 9 MP ABS as standard and Ducati Traction Control (DTC), a slipper clutch for increased performance, three riding modes(URBAN, TOURING ans SPORT), as well as ride-by-wire. Its lightweight but also rigid trellis frame has been inspired from race motorcycles, and was designed for increased cornering abilities, without affecting the lightweight build of the bike. Also, passenger comfort has been increased by making the seat adjustable and with the addition of pillion grab rails.

The 2016 MY Ducati Monster 821 Stripe is at the opposite pole, when compared to its Dark sibling, where the later blends in especially at night time, the former has a race-inspired livery, with a Ducati red paint scheme and a Racing white Stripe from end to end, which is sure to make it the center of attention, no matter where the rider decides to go. As the Dark version, mechanically, this machine is identical to the base Monster 821, its only differences lying in the visual department.

The Dark version of the Ducati 821 Dark is a more aggressive version of the middle-class naked, and boasts a black paint scheme, as well as a black finish on its steel trellis frame, its lightweight wheels, and the exhaust mufflers, and a bronze finish on its exhaust, swingarm and cam belt covers. In all other departments, it has the same features, technologies and specs as the base Monster 821.

The 2016 MY Ducati Monster 821 has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 821cc, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic powerhouse paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive and a slipper clutch, and can reach a maximum power output of 112 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque.

In addition, it boasts the acclaimed Ducati Safety Pack (DSP), which include the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and a 9 MP ABS for higher levels of safety and comfort, a ride-by-wire system that offers three selectable riding modes, Urban, Touring or Sport. Also, it has an adjustable seat, passenger grab handles, a Brembo braking system and a digital instrumentation panel.
