The engine was a air cooled air-cooled, L-Twin, 2 Desmodromically actuated valves per cylinder. A 88.9mm bore x 88.9mm stroke result in a displacement of just 803.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a desmodromic valve control.
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a chain transmission. Power was moderated via the APTC wet multiplate with hydraulic control, self-servo action on drive, slipper action on over-run.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 180/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2 x 320mm discs, 4-piston radial caliper, ABS in the front and a 245mm disc, 2-piston caliper, ABS in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm upside-down forks while the rear was equipped with a progressive linkage with preload and rebound adjustable monoshock. The Monster S2R was fitted with a 1.06 Gallon (4.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 372.58 pounds (169.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 57.09 inches (1450 mm) long.

The 2015 MY Ducati Monster S2R sports a powerful, air-cooled, 803cc, L-twin powerplant mated to a six-speed, manual transmission that features a APTC clutch, for improved performance, a lighter clutch feel and also prevents destabilizing of the rear-end under aggressive downshifting. Technology-wise, it comes with ABS as standard, and also, a stopwatch function on the digital display, which can store each recorded time, allowing the rider to scroll through every lap time.
The trellis frame is rigid but also lightweight, ensuring improved cornering abilities, without making the bike seem heavy, not unlike the five-spoked alluminium alloy wheels.
