Official Harley-Davidson importer for Britain from April 1914, though business only really got underway after the First World War, in 1919. He was also Lord Mayor of London and was knighted by George V. Watson made a good job of establishing Harley-Davidson in Britain, but withdrew in 1925 when a new 33 per cent import tax made the American bikes prohibitively expensive. It would be many years before Harley-Davidson had another UK importer.
