Harley-Davidson Cycle Tow

Predecessor of the Harley-Davidson Servicar. the Cycle Tow was basically a standard motorcycle with two outrigger wheels fitted to the rear of the frame. The idea behind this four-wheel motorcycle was that mechanics could ride it out to customers' cars as a two-wheeler, then hinge down the outrigger wheels, hitch the whole device to the car's rear bumper and drive back to the garage, cycle in tow. Once the car had been serviced, it would be driven back to the customer and the whole operation would be reversed. Not many Cycle Tows were sold, but the idea soon led to the immensely successful Servicar, which became a virtual American institution. Remaining in production into the 1970s.
