History[edit | edit source]
In 1983 a more powerful version of the Silver Wing was born. The lighter version, the GL500 Silver Wing, was also still obtainable. The GL650'83 Silver Wing was sold in 1983 in one of two color schemes: Candy Wineberry Red with Bramble Red Metallic or Nimbus Gray Metallic with Achilles Black Metallic. The stripes on the red bike were red; but on the gray bike they were black. The "HONDA" and "SILVERWING" emblems were gold. The seat and trunk system had a modular design like the 1981 Honda GL500. Although the performance of the GL650 Silver Wing was much better than that of the GL500 Silver Wing this model did not last very long.
Engine[edit | edit source]
The engine was a liquid cooled v2, four-stroke. A 82.5mm bore x 63.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 673.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv).
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 5-speed transmission.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 3.50-19 front tire and a 130/90-16 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a expanding brake in the rear. The GL650 was fitted with a 4.62 Gallon (17.50 Liters) fuel tank.
