The Honda XR400R was a Air cooled, four-stroke, single cylinder SOHC, 4 valve Enduro motorcycle produced by Honda between 1996 and 2004. Claimed horsepower was 34.06 HP (25.4 KW) @ 6500 RPM.

Engine[edit]

The engine was a air cooled Air cooled, four-stroke, single cylinder SOHC, 4 valve. A 83.8mm bore x 83.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 397.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (sohc).

Drive[edit]

The bike has a 5 Speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-disc, manual.

Chassis[edit]

It came with a 80/100-21 front tire and a 110/100-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Single 256mm disc 2 piston caliper rear brakes in the front and a Single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm leading-axle Showa cartridge fork w/18-position compression and 12-position rebound-damping adj.; 11.0-in. travel while the rear was equipped with a Pro-Link Showa single-shock with spring-preload, 16-position comp. and 16-position rebound-damping adj.; 11.8-in. travel. The XR400R was fitted with a 2.5 Gallon (9.46 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 257.06 pounds (116.6 Kg). The wheelbase was 56.1 inches (1425 mm) long.

The Honda XR400 (designated XR400R'96) was a development of the motosport series of previous years. It was sold in 1996. One color was available: Ross White. This was an all new lightweight, midweight XR. The rear sub frame was removable. The swingarm pivot was combined with the rear engine mount. A high performance power kit was also available. The serial number began JH2NE030*TM000001.

The XR400R'97 was sold in 1997 in Ross White with Black. The gas tank had a new logo and the fork boots were black. The seat is both red and black. There was also new clutch springs. The swingarm pivot was combined with the rear engine mount. A high performance power kit was also available. The serial number began JH2NE030*VM100001.

The XR400R'98 was sold in 1998 in one color: Ross White. The gas tank logo was redesigned to include a yellow Honda wing logo. There was also a new type rear sub-frame. The swingarm pivot was combined with the rear engine mount. A high performance power kit was also available. The serial number began JH2NE030*WM200001.
