The engine was a air cooled air-cooled, four-stroke, in-line four cylinder, OHV. A 85.7mm bore x 80.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1845.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead valves (ohv).

The bike has a gear transmission. Power was moderated via the wet multi-disc, manual.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 130/90-16 front tire and a 170/80-15 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single 320mm disc in the front and a drum in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a dual shocks. The Dakota 4 Highway was fitted with a 5.81 Gallon (22.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 716.5 pounds (325.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 68.5 inches (1740 mm) long.

The 2008 MY Indian Dakota Highway has been designed by the American engineers especially for those riders who want to spend as much time as possible behind the bars. It comes standard with a large, detachable windscreen, a dual seat with a passenger backrest, a tank-mounted instrumentation panel, pull-back handlebars, a blacked-out frame, laced wheels and a large, 320mm front disc brake.
