1984 - 1986 Kawasaki GPZ 900R Ninja[edit | edit source]
Kawasaki introduced the GPZ 900R to the public at the 1983 Paris Motorshow. Eleven years after the introduction of the Z1, Kawasaki's 900cc bike again claimed the title of "world's fastest", recording a top speed of 240km/h and a 0-400m acceleration time of 10.976 seconds. In January 1984, the GPZ 900R had the word "Ninja" added as a prefix to its name for the North American market.
1987 - 1992 Kawasaki GPZ 900R Ninja[edit | edit source]
In 1987, the new GPz 900R Ninja was the cutting edge of performance, with an all-new liquid-cooled four-cylinder driving its cams from the left side instead of the middle—the better to lean over farther in corners and produce top-end power that put the big air-cooled multis of the day to shame.
