The 998 engine has received updated intake throttle ports, bringing the bike closer to the factory superbike race beasts. The die-cast aluminum sub-grame keeps the weight down and the bike's profile on the slim side, for better aerodynamics.

A race-quality steering damper helps the rider get more precise turns and adds to the stability of the bike. The twin-tube design prevents the damping fluid from frothing, even as it warms under racing conditions.

The engine delivers 138 PS in normal conditions but can reach 200 PS with the RAM Air. Adjustable, high-performance fork and rear shock are standard.

Coming as a completely redesigned model for 2011, the Ninja ZX-10R offers the most advanced traction-control system in all mass production motorcycles. The MotoGP-derived S-KTRC, or Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control system works by processing every data point 200 times per second and then maximizes performance by reducing power just before the amount of slippage exceeds the optimal traction zone, thus maximizing forward motion.

Essentially, Kawasaki took their experience from the race track, and made the almost perfect Ninja ZX-10R and made it even better by adding ABS, or Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System(KIBS) as they like to call it. This reduces the risk of rider injuries when running into a patch of sand or if the road is wet, and very strong braking force is needed to allow room for swerving or even coming to a complete halt.

The 2012 Kawasaki ZX-10R is equipped with a liquid-cooled, 988cc inline-four engine, which has been fine-tuned to deliver 179 horsepower and produces 112 Nm of torque, all superbly delivered to the three-spoke cast aluminum wheels by a race-style 6-speed cassette manual transmission through a sealed chain.

It comes standard with the sophisticated Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control(S-KTRC), which calculates 200 times per second a wide range of data to allow the rider to get as close as possible to the edge of traction on the track.

The new feature in the 2013 MY model is the new Öhlins-Kawasaki Electronic Steering Damper. This new electronic damper, which has been specially tuned for the 2013 MY ZX-10R, is able to react to current speed as well as rate of acceleration or deceleration to help provide the best steering "feel", no matter the speed. The motorcycle is available for purchase with optional ABS.
