The Kawasaki Z1000 was a in-line four, four-stroke Naked motorcycle produced by Kawasaki between 1976 and 2019. It could reach a top speed of 154 mph (248 km/h). Max torque was 81.87 ft/lbs (111.0 Nm) @ 7300 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 138.93 HP (103.6 KW) @ 10000 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a liquid cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 77.0mm bore x 56.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1043.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet multi-disc, manual.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70-zr17 front tire and a 190/50-zr17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. dual semi-floating 310mm petal discs in the front and a single disc. single 250mm petal disc, caliper:single-piston in the rear. The front suspension was a 41 mm inverted fork with top-out springs, stepless compression and rebound damping and spring preload adjustability while the rear was equipped with a horizontal back-link, gas-charged shock, with stepless rebound damping and spring preload adjustability. The Z1000 was fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 502.65 pounds (228.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 56.5 inches (1435 mm) long.

Thirty years after the original Kawasaki Z1000 - also known as Kawasaki Z1 - hit the streets, Kawasaki released a modern version of the famous superbike of that period, using the engine from the Kawasaki ZX-9.

2006 brings style upgrades for Kawasaki's large naked bike Z1000. While retaining the aggressive sporty and rebel character, technological advances make it more fun to ride and set things on a new, modern path.

Bodywork has been updated and the quad-style mufflers receive a more cyber-style design. The instument cluster has been reshaped, now sporting an analog tachometer and a multi-function digital LCD screen.

The engine of the 2006 Z1000 now sits in a cast aluminum sub-frame and has been relocated and tuned for low-mid rpm performance, suitable for powerful launches at lights and around slow corners, but still effortlessly darting forward at highway speed.

The new, modern character of the previous year model has been further refined in the 20007 Kawasaki Z1000. The naked bike comes with radial calipers and petal rotors and usd adjustable forks for individual settings to fit a wide variety of riders and road surfaces.

A new instrument cluster offers crucial riding data at a glance thanks to the large analog tacho and easy-to-read multifunctional LCD screen.

He 2008 Kawasaki Z1000 sport a cast aluminum sub-frame for the relocated engine, offering now a more centralized mass distribution.

The low-mid rpm performance tuning now offers a more confident throttle use and powerful launches at lights and around slow corners, but still effortlessly darting forward at highway speed.

Add in the fully-adjustable fork and rear shock, lightweight frame and swingarm, the aggressive styling of both bodywork and exhaust silencers and you get the image of a bike with excellent handling on the racing track or on the twisting mountain roads. With no less than 125 PS, the 2008 Kawasaki Z1000 will put a smile on every rider's face.

The 2009 Z1000 brings a new engine for this naked Kawasaki motorcycle, with 1043cc 4-in-line architecture and delivering now 138 PS. The bike also receives an all-new aluminum twin-tube frame, with a horizontal back-link rear shock and fully-adjustable front fork.

The air intake ducts are now placed bear the fuel tank for a more aggressive look and lower air temperature. A new instrument panel has been installed, with 3-way adjustability and an eye-catching orange lens covering a multifunctional LCD screen.

The new, lightweight, cast wheels come with 5 spokes, and petal rotors for both front and rear. Shorter silencers still retain the quad styling.

"If the new Z1000 knocks your eyeballs out, that’s exactly what we had in mind". That is how Kawasaki presented their brand new 2010 Z 1000 model. The naked streetfighter bike boasts a retouched design in almost all aspects, the engine is a newly developed unit from Kawasaki, developing 138 hp at 9,600 rpm and 81 ft-lb at 7,800 rpm. The engine's response has been improved as well and the soft rev function assures power doesn’t drop off suddenly at high rpm. Kawasaki also designed a new aluminum frame specifically for the Z 1000.

The 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 is the second model to be powered by the new 138 PS, 1043cc 4-in-line engine. The bike sports the new aluminum twin-tube frame, with a horizontal back-link rear shock and fully-adjustable front fork and lightweight cast wheels with 5 spokes, with petal rotors for both front and rear.

Shorter silencers still retain the quad styling, while the air intake ducts are now placed bear the fuel tank for a more aggressive look and lower air temperature. A new instrument panel has been installed, with 3-way adjustability and an eye-catching orange lens covering a multifunctional LCD screen.

LED tail lights are now in place and the overall styling has become more aggressive, with flush-mounted panels and an edgy, yet fluid line.

The 2010 Kawasaki Z1000SX is a true naked sport beast with excellet street cred and even a touring side. Powered by a strong 1043cc 4-in-line engine and offering a riding position more relaxed than that on a sport bike, the Z1000SX, this machine offers the needed grit for fast-paced riding and the enhanced maneuverability for city rides.

The analog-digital instrument cluster is easy to read and offers plenty of essential riding data, while being tucked behind the clear tool-less adjustable windscreen. The 19 L tank offers plenty of fun until needing a refuel and it also stresses the sporty nature of the bike, with its flared edges and streamlined design.

The 2010 Z1000SX offers 138 PS with 110 Nm (more than 81 ft-lbs) of torque at 7800 rpm, more than enough to deliver a thrilling acceleration for the 228 kg (503 lbs) bike over winding uphill roads and highways, too.

The 2010 Kawasaki Z1000SX Tourer is a semi-naked bike powered by a brawny 138 PS 4-in-line 1043cc and receives fine, minute tuning to make it an excellent sport-touring machine. The suspensions are adjustable so this bike will offer excellent grip on the city streets and on the lesser countryside roads, while the 6-speed gearbox provides both staggering thrust and highway speed for very fast commuting.

A pair of color-matching Monokey 35 L panniers offer the necessary storage space and the 2010 Kawasaki Z1000SX Tourer comes with special rear blinkers and an additional tail light. Too bad the side cases cannot be used together with the top case; you can however use a soft roll-pack for extra storage on the tail of the bike.

Like all Z1000SX bikes, the Tourer also sports compression/ rebound damping and adjustable spring preload for the front suspension and cam-style spring preload for the rear shock.

The 2011 Z1000 carries on the heritage of the past liter-engine models and sports the same 138 PS power unit with a 6-speed gearbox, chain final transmission and digital fuel injection.

The twin-tube aluminum chassis is derived from the acclaimed 2010 Ninja ZX-10R, offering a narrower profile for better knee-steering and a more confident riding. The 3-way adjustable instrument cluster makes it visible for all riders, and offer essential info in an easy-to-read manner.

Cast, 5-spoke wheels and large petal rotors for both the front and the rear wheels are complemented by the adjustable suspensions. A quad-style dual silencer system makes the 2011 Kawasaki Z1000 look aggressive and sporty.

The 2011 Kawasaki Z1000SX is a naked street bike powered by a 1043cc engine and capable of delivering 138 PS, with a max torque of 110 Nm (80 ft-lbs) @ 7800 rpm. The bike comes with inverted forks featuring compression and rebound damping and spring preload adjustability, and a horizontal back-link rear shock with rebound and pre-load adjustability.

Dual 300 mm petal rotors in the front offer confident stopping force, while the relaxes riding position makes sure you can also do some touring on the 2011 Kawasaki Z1000SX. The revised bodywork shows a more aggressive design, with a cooler air intake channeled between the frame's beams.

The 2012 Kawasaki Z1000 model is a naked bike powered by a 1043cc engine which can deliver up to 138 PS. This model comes with an aluminum twin-tube frame inspired by the acclaimed 2010 Ninja ZX-10R and sporting a narrower profile which is lighter and offers better ergonomics and steering.

The 2013 MY Kawasaki Z1000 Special Edition greets potential buyers with an aluminum twin-tube frame specially engineered for this particular model, inspired from the Ninja ZX-10R, to be more narrow and enhance the knee grip for added control while in the saddle.

The inline-four engine that displaces 1043cc delivers massive power to the wheels 6-speed transmission. The trademark quad-style muffler has been shortened by almost 1/3, so the silhouette of the 5-spoke cast rear wheel may be admired better.

Add the aggressive styling of its predecessors, but turn it up one level, the result is the new 2012 Kawasaki Z1000 Special Edition, a naked machine of might.

The 2014 MY Kawasaki Z1000 ABS comes with a lot of new features.

The first one to be mentioned is that they have upgraded its 1043cc engine fuel injection system to increase the mid to high rev engine response.

The Showa Separate Function - Big Piston Fork (SFF-BP) is lighter and performs better due to a new way of solving mass distribution. It is easily adjustable and offers improved performance in a multitude of riding scenarios. The braking has been also improved thanks to monoblock radial-mount front calipers.

6 -spoke lightweight aluminum wheels are new to this model also and have reduced almost 3.3 lbs of unsprung weight.
