It came with a 4.10 H18 front tire and a 4.85 H18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2x 280mm discs 2 piston calipers in the front and a single 280mm disc 2 piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 38mm Marzocchi telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a dual Marzocchi shock absorbers, preload adjustable.

The 1978 MY Laverda 1200 Jota America sports an air-cooled, four-stroke, 1116cc, transverse three cylinder powerhouse mated to a five-speed manual transmission and can produce 73 horsepower and 54 Nm of torque. It was designed specifically for the American market, and has an overall design that can rival with the classic cruisers one finds State-side.

Standard features include 38mm Marzocchi telescopic forks, dual Marzocchi shock absorbers in the rear which are preload adjustable, and a high-end Brembo braking system, composed of dual 280 mm discs in the front and a single 280 mm disc in the rear.
