The MV Agusta Brutale 990 R was a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, transverse four cylinder, DOHC, four valves per cylinder Naked motorcycle produced by MV Agusta between 2011 and 2012. Max torque was 78.19 ft/lbs (106.0 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 139.06 HP (103.7 KW) @ 10600 RPM.

A 76.2mm bore x 76.2mm stroke result in a displacement of just 998.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a gears transmission. Power was moderated via the wet multi-disc, manual.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70 - ZR 17 (58 W) front tire and a 190/55 - ZR 17 (75 W) rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320 mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 210 mm disc, 4-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a upside-down telescopic hydraulic fork with external and separated adjustment of rebound and compression damping and of spring preload while the rear was equipped with a progressive, single shock absorber with rebound and compression (High speed / Low speed) damping and spring preload adjustment. The wheelbase was 56.61 inches (1438 mm) long.

It addresses riders who want a powerful yet light machine, and, at the same time, prefer the laid back position that comes with a naked two-wheeler, as opposed to supersports.

The 2011 MY offers a choice between three colors, pastel red, pastel white and pastel black. The 2012 MY MV Agusta Brutale 990 R sports a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 998cc, in-line four cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce 139 horsepower and 106 Nm of torque. Even though it has a smaller power output when you take the 1090 R into consideration, it still is a thrilling ride from the 0 mark and until one reaches the red rev limit in the sixth gear.

Not much has changed from the previous year, it still remaining a machine that better suits the more adventurous among riders, and it looks the part as well.
