The NSU 501 OSL was a single cylinder, four-stroke standard produced by NSU between 1935 and 1939. It could reach a top speed of 81 mph (130 km/h). Claimed horsepower was 21.59 HP (16.1 KW) @ 5150 RPM.

The engine was a air cooled single cylinder, four-stroke. A 80.0mm bore x 99.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 494.0 cubic centimeters.
