The Piaggio MP3 250 was a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder QUASAR, four-stroke, four-valve scooter produced by Piaggio between 2007 and 2014. It could reach a top speed of 76 mph (123 km/h). Max torque was 14.75 ft/lbs (20.0 Nm) @ 6750 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 21.99 HP (16.4 KW) @ 8250 RPM.

The engine was a liquid cooled liquid-cooled, single-cylinder QUASAR, four-stroke, four-valve. A 71.1mm bore x 71.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 244.0 cubic centimeters.

The bike has a CVT transmission.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120 / 70 - 12in front tire and a 130 / 70 - 12in rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 240 mm steel discs, 2-piston floating calipers in the front and a single 240 mm steel disc in the rear. The front suspension was a parallelogram composed of four aluminum arms supporting two steering tubes, cantilevered suspension while the rear was equipped with a two dual effect hydraulic shock absorbers and adjustable spring preload. The MP3 250 was fitted with a 3.17 Gallon (12.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 520.29 pounds (236.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 58.58 inches (1488 mm) long.

The idea of having dual wheels up front is definitely easier to ride in sketchy conditions (slippery roads, riding on bus rails etc), so it’s mostly a question of if you prefer that additional measure of safety, or would rather have a lighter, cheaper and simpler traditional setup. Even if you aren’t interested in the MP3, consider taking one for a test ride at your local dealer just to better understand the dramatic difference that three wheels makes.

The 2009 MY Piaggio MP3 250 sports a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 244cc, single-cylinder Master lump, capable of producing 22 horsepower and 21 Nm of torque, and is paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). For increased maneuverability and safety, in has been designed with an acclaimed parallelogram front suspension, and an electro-hydraulic suspension locking system, as well as a 40-degree lean angle, which ensure no bend is too sharp for this three-wheeler.
