Engine

The engine was a Liquid cooled cooled Four stroke, 90°-V-twin, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder. The engine featured a 11.2:1 compression ratio.

Drive

Power was moderated via the Wet, multiple discs, cable operated.

Chassis

It came with a 110/80R19M/C 59H front tire and a 150/70R17M/C 69H rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2 x 310 mm disc, 2 piston calipers, ABS in the front and a Single 260 mm disc, 1 piston caliper, ABS in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Telescopic, coil spring, oil damped while the rear was equipped with a Link type, with adjustable rebound and spring preload. The DL650XT V-Strom GT was fitted with a 20 Liters / 5.2 US gal / 4.4 Imp gal fuel tank. The wheelbase was 1560 mm / 61.4 in long.

GT

Suzuki's V-Strom range gets a GT update, with a touring package added to the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 1000. Essentially, the biggest difference between the GT variants and the standard machines will be the spacious 64 litre luggage capacity thanks to the addition of panniers and a top box, both of which will be included on the GT machines. Adding to this will be new bodywork that calls to the glory-days of the DR-Z and DR-Big motorcycles. A 1kg weight reduction will also accompany the new machines, as will a handy 12v socket as standard. The V-Strom 650 has several updates for 2017, including low RPM assist, and Suzuki’s new easy-start system along with a two-stage traction control system, which can be switched off. An updated version of Suzuki’s proven 645cc V-twin produces more power and torque, helped by a new exhaust system. There’s also new luggage and new heated grips available as part of Suzuki’s genuine accessory range. The newest V-Strom 1000 is updated with cornering ABS and a three-mode traction control system, as well as the same easy-start system and low RPM assist as the 650. A redesigned screen improves weather protection, as part of the the bike’s newly-fitted bodywork. The V-Strom range got an overhaul for 2017, with revisions to both the 650 and 1000 models to bring them up to date with Euro 4 emission and noise regulations.
