I have a 1990 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500/88 , the motor /crank seized up. can I drop any of the 1500 a1- a13 series motors into this bike ? what year motors will bolt up to this frame and drive shaft. Any mechanical knowledge is appreciated.

Thank you

In checking which bikes use the same crankcase set. I found the following. VN1500 A1-A13 VN1500 B1-B4 VN1500 C3-C4

The drive shaft is used on all of those models as well.

I think your most likely to have problems with small things such as electronics. I checked and the starter is also the same for all the A series Vulcan's. But there are just so many parts that it's likely something is different. I also checked the frame and it looks like it's the same for all but the VN1500-B1 and VN1500-A1. So if you have a choice I'd shy away from those particular year models as something is definitely different even though it might not be on the engine at all.--Budlight 14:22, 16 September 2006 (PDT)

I have a '91 88/1500 that threw a rod. I'm looking someone in the Central Coast of CA to help me work on it, as there seems to be no shop in the area (other than the dealer) that wants to touch a metric cruiser. I want tear down and customize the entire bike from the inside out! Does anybody know of an individual or shop close to the 93940 area?

Most likely the best place to start your search is at an authorized Kawasaki dealer (click link). Even if they're not what you're looking for they can likely get you in touch with someone who works on metric bikes (which don't despair, are far more common, than the faddish chopped and customized cruisers). I know you said you've already tried the dealer, but you might try asking them for advice on someone who customizes them. Its just as likely they could introduce you to someone with similar aspirations as you, who could be a great aid in working on it. If your dealer can't help you try the next.--Budlight 16:58, 24 February 2007 (CST)
