The Triumph Rocket III Touring was a in-line three, four-stroke Cruiser motorcycle produced by Triumph between 2006 and 2017. Max torque was 163.01 ft/lbs (221.0 Nm) @ 2750 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 144.83 HP (108.0 KW) @ 5750 RPM.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a liquid cooled in-line three, four-stroke. A 101.6mm bore x 101.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 2294.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet. multi-plate.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 150/80-r16 front tire and a 180/70-r16 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. nissin 4-piston fixed calipers. abs. in the front and a single disc. brembo 2-piston fixed calipers. abs. in the rear. The front suspension was a kayaba 43mm forks. while the rear was equipped with a kayaba chromed spring twin shocks with 5 position adjustable preload.. The Rocket III Touring was fitted with a 6.34 Gallon (24.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 789.25 pounds (358.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 67.13 inches (1705 mm) long.

Long-distance riding requires a bit more than mere engine-and chassis-tuning, though. You need something to keep the weather off you and bags to carry your stuff. To those ends, Triumph came up with a truly quick-detach windscreen and saddlebags that appear to owe much to Harley-Davidson designs.

So, you're in love with the insane torque and thrust of the Rocket III and you'd like to take this bike and your significant other on a longer ride. Good, because Triumph kind of knew this was coming down the hatch and prepared the Touring version of the Rocket. The 2008 Rocket III Touring retains all the beastly character of the base model, but brings in several functional upgrades you'll love.

Cue in the waterproof hardcases, a detachable windscreen for better rider protection, a more comfy seat and rubber insulated footboards. Even more, optional backrests and more are up for grabs.

The 2009 Rocket III Touring is an upgraded version of the base power cruiser, loaded with extras to allows the rider to share the exhilarating experience with a passenger and enjoy longer trips aboard this amazing machine.

While the tech specs are basically the same, the suspension has been re-tuned for providing more comfort and retain the nimble handling. Touring with this bike is now easier thanks to the detachable windscreen, full floorboards, hard sidecases and revised seats. Optional accessories are also available, such as a passenger backrest and many more.

Even though Touring and Rocket III seem to be wrong together in the same sentence, the 2010 iteration of Triumph's awesome machine brings in the same mix of awesome and wow- factor. The beast remains as savage as you know it: the 2.3-liter triple-cylinder engine delivers insane amounts of torque and brutal acceleration regardless of speed or gear.

However, having your better half in the back and gear for overnight trips is now much easier thanks to the generous side cases. And longer hauls will also be more comfortable with the windscreen and floorboards, too.

If you like sharing the extreme sensations a machine such as the Triumph Rocket III can deliver, then it's the Touring version you should be reaching for. The bike is almost as savage as its Roadster sibling, but it comes with a lot of convenient additions to make longer trips more enjoyable and power delivery more predictable.

Starting with the floorboards, detachable windscreen, more comfy seats and backrests, the 2012 Rocket III Touring also brings in the hard saddlebags with plenty of storage for personal belonging for both a weekend getaway or longer rides.

Take the massively powerful Rocket, and fit it with a passenger seat, padded sissy bar for the pillion rider, add capacious hard saddlebags, a detachable windscreen and the end result is the same top-displacement production bike, only now able to thrill two persons at the same time.

The 2015 MY Triumph Rocket III Touring delivers the same good-old, revered asphalt-scorching torque of the biggest engine manufactured for a series bike, but packed with touring amenities that make life more comfortable when riding two-up. This monster comes equipped with a windscreen, saddlebags and a passenger backrest, and all one needs is a pillion, gas and a destination.

The machine shares only its engine and headlights with the Roadster version, and even the engine has been remapped for even more torque, ensuring that even two-up, fully loaded, and uphill, the Rocket will be as responsive as ever.
