The Vespa 946 RED was a Single cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled scooter produced by Vespa between 2013 and 2017. It could reach a top speed of 57 mph (91 km/h). Max torque was 8.11 ft/lbs (11.0 Nm) @ 6500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 13.01 HP (9.7 KW) @ 8000 RPM.

The engine was a air cooled Single cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled. A 58.4mm bore x 58.4mm stroke result in a displacement of just 125.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a single overhead cams (sohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a automatic transmission. Power was moderated via the cvt.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 120/70-12 front tire and a 130/70-12 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. abs in the front and a double disc. abs in the rear. The front suspension was a single link arm with coil spring and dual-action hydraulic shock absorber while the rear was equipped with a coil spring with adjustable preload, mono shock with progressive lever system. The 946 RED was fitted with a 2.25 Gallon (8.50 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 55.31 inches (1405 mm) long.

The 2013 MY Vespa 946 is available for purchase only for European customers, and is a new mode, from the Italian engineers, that successfully combines modern design features and technologies, without straying too much from the Vespa recipe, that has remained unchanged for almost 70 years. Features to be mentioned are the aluminum seat, hinged to the bike, which brings a breath of fresh air, as well as the futuristic LED lights and the LCD screen on the dashboard, a first for all scooters from the Italian brand.

At its heart lies an air-cooled, four-stroke, 125cc, single cylinder lump paired to a continuous variable transmission, and can produce 11 horsepower and 11 Nm of torque. In addition, it comes with front and rear disc brakes, with ABS as standard, which makes it one of the safest scooters available on the market.
